The Choir
Marsh Ladies Choir is a community of 40 singers with a wide age range who love to make music, are known for their joyous sound, engaging repertoire and loyal supporters. And after more than 65 years, there is nothing the choir enjoys more than entertaining audiences with their mix of musical styles from classical and folk tunes, to swing, jazz and songs from the shows.

Making music with Marsh Ladies Choir is friendly, fun and hugely rewarding. Rehearsals are held weekly in Lindley guided by music professionals, Ian Abbott and Kim Kaye, and if you would like to join them, please do get in touch.

A Season of Song, October 2024
Marsh Ladies shared the stage with Gledholt Male Voice Choir at Brighouse Central Methodist Church on October 6th performing a wonderful variety of popular songs. MD Ian Abbott entertained on the organ and accompanists Kim Kaye (MLC) and Jane Robertson (GMVC) gave a piano duet. The choirs joined in singing Rhythm of Life and Jerusalem to bookend the enjoyable evening.

Celebrate Spring, March 2024
Marsh Ladies Choir welcomed in Spring alongside Lindley Band in a wonderful concert on Sunday afternoon with the Mayor of Kirklees in the audience. Both groups were following up on recent competition success, with the ladies singing a varied programme including some of their Mrs Sunderland Festival entries. Lindley Band have secured promotion back to Section 1 and featured three different soloists amongst their pieces. All together a very special afternoon.

Mrs Sunderland Festival, February 2024
Congratulations to Marsh Ladies at the 2024 Mrs Sunderland Music Festival on winning the Joseph Hancock trophy (Class 91) singing “Musica Dei” and “It Don’t Mean A Thing”. We were also placed second in the Festive (Class 90) with “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day”. Well done MLC!
