Celebrate Spring, March 2024

Marsh Ladies Choir welcomed in Spring alongside Lindley Band in a wonderful concert on Sunday afternoon with the Mayor of Kirklees in the audience. Both groups were following up on recent competition success, with the ladies singing a varied programme including some of their Mrs Sunderland Festival entries. Lindley Band have secured promotion back to Section 1 and featured three different soloists amongst their pieces. All together a very special afternoon.

Mrs Sunderland Festival, February 2024

Congratulations to Marsh Ladies at the 2024 Mrs Sunderland Music Festival on winning the Joseph Hancock trophy (Class 91) singing “Musica Dei” and “It Don’t Mean A Thing”. We were also placed second in the Festive (Class 90) with “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day”. Well done MLC!

Christmas Concert with Clifton Hand Bell Ringers, December 2023

Marsh Ladies ended the year with a wonderful seasonal concert for the mayor of Kirklees and a festive audience. Guests, the Clifton Hand Bell Ringers entertained with a variety of pieces. Thanks to Honorary Member of the choir Raymond Ellis, for both compering and singing in his unique style

The sun shone on Sunday afternoon for Marsh Ladies and Sundown Swing's combined concert. A lovely relaxed atmosphere and varied programme with several joint items was much appreciated by the full audience.

Putting on the Glitz with Chris Pulleyn, June 2023

Marsh Ladies were putting on the glitz in a special evening at Brighouse Central Methodist Church with songs from Stage and Screen. Guest soloist Chris Pulleyn entertained us all with marvellous performances of songs from various musicals.

Christmas Concert 2022

It was third time lucky for Marsh Ladies and the West Yorkshire Police Band Ensemble to present their Christmas Fantasy, originally planned for 2020 and again in 2021. A full house enjoyed the afternoon concert mix of favourite Christmas songs and carols. Ian Abbott conducted the choir and thanks to Chris Pulleyn for accompanying at short notice. The band were under the baton of Stephen Wood.

Concert with Côr y Penrhyn, Bethesda, September 2022

Marsh Ladies were delighted to be the guests of Côr y Penrhyn (MVC) at a fundraising concert for Eglwys Glanogwen in Bethesda, North Wales. The concert was truly multi-lingual, featuring songs in Welsh, Latin, Italian, French, South African languages and English. The evening was rounded off with a supper and more singing at a local cricket club. MLC spent the following day touring Snowdonia before returning home.

Sing and Swing into Summer, June 2022

Marsh Ladies and their guests Musica Mirfield Swing Band entertained an enthusiastic audience at Brighouse Central Methodist Church on June 11th. With accompanist Kim taken ill, our MD Ian Abbott conducted "from the piano" to a very attentive choir showing how well prepared we were. Musica Mirfield played a lovely variety of pieces and two band members also sang.

Sing for Ukraine, May 2022

Marsh Ladies and Lindley Methodist Church raised an amazing £903 at their Sing for Ukraine on May 8th 2022. The money has been given to the DEC Ukrainian appeal. Thank you to everyone who supported us.

Rotary Concert

Marsh Ladies joined Gledholt MVC and soloist Natasha Rudd to celebrate the Huddersfield Rotary Club Centenary on April 30th 2022. An excellent selection of music and a rousing finale of Jerusalem made for a great evening of entertainment.
